Hello! Welcome back to the #Fridayfeelgood. I've been off for a couple of weeks but we're back with a bang (or a woof) this morning!

I hope that you've been having a lovely couple of weeks - resting or working or both!? Let me know about your feel good below!

My Friday Feelgood was inspired by a dreary walk this morning with Skittle the dog. Skittle refused to get out of the car because the weather today was quite frankly horrible and to be honest I couldn't really blame her. So I closed the car door and drove to another entrance to the park because she's smart but she's not THAT smart ;)

Eventually, aided by a little more tree cover, we got out of the comfort of the warm dry car and within about 10 minutes, this walk went from wet and miserable to wacky and magnificent (her words).

The highlight of the walk you ask? We found a ball (not uncommon as she finds one on nearly every walk),but not just any ball, we found a BIG BALL.

This in a 'roundabout' way led me to think about how sometimes it's really too easy to dig in our heels and say, no, I don't want to go out to where it's miserable or to go where I've got the self doubt gremlins and sure, there's probably no point...blah blah blah. But that's exactly where we're wrong! If you don't go into the park you might not find that ball or if you don't put yourself OUT THERE you might not find that client or that client might not find you!

I hope that you feel good this Friday and this post gives you a little inspiration to get out there, even if it's a little wet and windy and you don't feel like it, Skittle and me believe in YOU!

The moment you've all been waiting for....

What's gone well in your line of work this week? Crushed some new sales? Made 20 new connections? Scored a goal at the 5 aside?

I want to hear about it - let's share some positive news!

It could be fairly easy to get down in the dumps lately, especially as a #freelancer, the rise of AI, the rise in costs of literally everything and well...I could go on but I wont!

My feelgood this week is in the form of celebrating resilience.

I've been going to see a physio for an injury the last few months as it's been getting in the way of my work and social life - this week I allowed myself some moping time but as part my resilient attitude, it was necessary! I'm a competitive person who loves sports and I love being involved in teamwork especially since being a #voiceover I spend a lot of time alone in a little box.)

I started to think about how I would process this setback on the field or on the track and I realised that it's so important to give yourself a little breather and readjust your stance before you try again - especially when you don't have teammates right next to you!

I'm very grateful to JD, Michele, Cindy and Sophie who have been great remote teammates this week in helping each other to get back on track with projects, update our websites and generally, support each other.

What's your Friday Feelgood?

It's time to feel good this Friday and share with me your #FridayFeelgood?

What's been great about your week, any small wins or BIG ones for that matter?

This week I'm feeling good about something a little more serious than my regular output and that's knowing my worth.

What does ‘knowing your worth’ mean to you?

In the last few months I’ve seen a lot of freelancers like myself have conversations about rates, getting paid for our experience or expertise and the fact that it’s not getting any easier.

I saw an alarming post the other day from someone (who was new to me at the time) who said that ‘we’ need to be realistic and stop expecting to get rates that we have been getting for years. It certainly had a diverse response from those that thought the writer was correct and those that thought they were way out of line. For the record I’m with the folk in the latter camp.

It’s also recently been brought to my attention that there are people posing as ‘agents’ or ‘talent wranglers’ and they’re sifting though jobs on the internet with no real knowledge of how the industry works and luring unsuspecting or uncaring voiceover individuals into believing that they deserve 20% less than what is already a rate with agency fees included.

I can appreciate that when you’re only starting out, the difference between say £50 (for what those unscrupulous will say is "just a few minutes") and £250 is a lot but if you could appreciate the bigger picture and learn to know your worth then you could see that by doing so we will all be better off in the long run!

To really get into my Friday Feelgood, I have to say thanks once again to the unstoppable force that is Jan Todd who's really helped me know my worth with her fantastic mentoring and helping me to make the most out of my website!

Let me know what's been great in your week!
